Joined TEAM Latinissimo 2010

Ricardo (Ricky), comes from a country where soccer & samba is just a way of life! He was born in the city of Campinas in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Although samba may not be on his dance schedule, salsa certainly is! Ricky only started salsa dancing about 7 months ago when he joined Latinissimo's Beginners "fast track" course. Now he is a TEAM Latinissimo member!

Ricky loves to dance, and when he arrived in New Zealand he was looking for the same style that he used to dance back home in Brazil... Unfortunately he could not find it. He was then asked by a friend to come along for some salsa dancing instead. He went along to have a good time and indeed he did! But looking back at it now, he says;

"I was crap doing salsa because I mixed all style I knew thinking I was doing salsa lol. So later on I decided to really learn it, then I join the course."

The dance Ricky is confident with before taking up salsa, is the Brazilian partner dance called Forró. Ricky has been dancing Forró since the age of 15. Back in Brazil he has done many Forró performances and a few here in Auckland as well. Other dance styles that he has done is Funk, Brazilian Axé [aché], Country and Street Dance.

Ricky is employed by L'Oreal Paris and is also a freelance Web Developer.

I asked Ricky how his experience with TEAM Latinissimo has been so far;

"The experience has been great so far. I've learnt a lot, improved my techniques and I'm very happy because I can really see my progress, not just in the team but also as a dancer. I'm trying to get as much as I can from my teachers, because would like to teach back in Brazil."

Besides dancing, and like pretty much any Brazilian male - he loves to play soccer! Ricky plays in the Auckland Sunday League where they are only 3 games away to become champions (this is what we love about Ricky, he has already seen the result)! He loves to go out with his friends to have fun and he absolutely loves to get a massage!

Ricky started off with joining Latinissimo's B-Team, now he is part of Latinissimo's A-Team!
