Team Latinissimo 2010-2011

Gemma is a Virgo born on Auckland's North Shore. Gemma has an extensive dance background and was very keen to try out salsa. After attending a beginners class with Latinissimo she was hooked and wanted more... that's when she found out about Team Latinissimo!

She auditioned a few weeks later where she showed lots of potential, dance and performance experience. It was noticed straight away. She did so good that she was invited to join Latinissimo's "BRAVO" Team straight away.

Her extensive back dance background includes, 6 years of Ballet, 5 years of Jazz, 5 years as Contemporary, 3 years of hip hop, 3 years of Cheerleading and Tap/Irish dance for 3 years. Her salsa experience only started in 2010. She has also received numerous awards for her dancing, such as 2 time recipient of the Dance Cup Award, Phoenix Award, Cheerleader of the Year Award to mention a few.

Gemma's background, bubbly and quirky personality fits perfectly with her work as a Secondary School Teacher in Dance and Drama. Her personality was perfect for the Latinissimo Team! It is easy to understand why she is such a popular teacher at her school.

I asked Gemma how her experience with Team Latinissimo has been;

"-It is a great learning experience! I have learnt a lot about myself as a person and dancer. Latinissimo is a great studio and learning experience."

She also tells me what her goal with salsa dancing is;

"-I want to get more advanced and be able to follow socially without hesitation"

Gemma has a huge passion for Missions both overseas and locally. She loves helping out with community events and working with youth. She also tells me that her heart is in service.
